We’re thrilled to share the next spotlight in our “Due Diligence: Getting To Know…” series: Associate Project Manager Tom Bucciaglia in Philadelphia!

Macro: Tell us a little about yourself, Tom.

Tom: I am originally from Reading, PA, and graduated from the University of Delaware, where I majored in Civil Engineering and minored in both Sustainable Infrastructure and Environmental Engineering. Outside of work,I am an avid bowler, an Eagle Scout, and I enjoy trying as many restaurants as possible in the Philadelphia Area.

Macro: What do you love most about your work?

Tom: In my mind, there is nothing better then seeing your work develop before your eyes. Our work is tangible, and watching progress over time provides me the greatest sense of accomplishment. Macro also has one of the most unique teams that I have ever worked with. Every team member has an incredible background and history, not to mention a real passion for what they do, and I love all the fun conversations that we get in to!

Macro: What is your favorite part of the project life cycle?

Tom: I love the very start to each project. There’s a freshness and newness that fills me with great energy and enthusiasm to begin everything on the right foot. There is also the opportunity to meet new people, create relationships among partners and teammates, or experience working in a different project area.

Macro: What is one thing you couldn’t make it through the day without?

Tom: I always need to start my day with a good cup of coffee and a podcast (lately: Spittin’ Chiclets, The Pat McAfee Show, Unraveled). I look forward to this time to decompress, breathe, recharge my brain, and begin my day on the best foot.

Macro: What hard and soft skills do you lean on most in your day-to-day work?

Tom: Especially with construction, I utilize my background in Structural Engineering constantly to provide insight on an issue or to gain a better understanding of the building processes that may be occurring. In terms of soft skills, I rely heavily on my ability to converse with just about anyone. Even the smallest conversation or discussion can provide invaluable information that can take a project to the next level and move it forward productively.

Macro: If you could give one piece of advice to a young professional, what would it be?

Tom: Listen to advice but make your own experiences. Ultimately, this life is yours to live and it’s up to you to make it fun, exciting, fulfilling, and something that you can look back on and be extremely proud of!

Macro: Describe yourself in 5 words or less.

Tom: Adventurous, inquisitive, positive, and light-hearted.
