Our next “Due Diligence: Getting To Know…” employee spotlight is on: Program Manager Dannah Seecoomar in New York.
Macro: Tell us a bit about yourself, Dannah.
Dannah: I was born and raised in New York City, and am a first generation child of Egyptian and Guyanese parents (who of course met in NYC, where else?!). Outside of work, one of my main passions is cooking, and I love learning kitchen tips and tricks from those around me. When the weather is warm, my favorite dish to make is Vietnamese-inspired summer rolls stuffed with gingery tofu and any seaonal veggies I can find.
Macro: What do you love most about your work?
Dannah: As a young professional, the best part of working at Macro for me is the plethora of opportunity to learn transferrable skills within the construction and real estate industry and beyond. I feel continually empowered by my colleagues to ask questions that enrich me, as both a professional and a person, as well as my work product.
Macro: What is your favorite part of the project life cycle?
Dannah: Easily Schematic Design. At a project’s inception, the opportunities are endless, and folks are most encouraged to express their creativity while defining shared goals and collectively problem-solving. The energy and enthusiasm of this stage is infectious.
Macro: What are your tried-and-true “work hacks?”
Dannah: Managing my to-do lists and open items through Microsoft One Note; lately, the check box function has been my new BFF.
Macro: What is one thing you couldn’t make it through the day without?
Dannah: Two essentials for me: snacks and, obviously, lots and lots of water.
Macro: If you could give one piece of advice to a young professional, what would it be?
Dannah: To do your job well, you just have to do the job. Ask questions and write down the answers – it’s not as complicated as you might think. Success often finds its roots in simplicity!
