As their three-year approval from The Joint Commission came to its renewal period, Penn State Health St. Joseph engaged Macro’s team of healthcare specialists to prepare for the triennial survey. Macro led the consultant team through all necessary pre-survey inspections, remediation studies, design changes and construction. Additionally, and more critically, Macro managed the clinical team through its creation and updating of all facility and clinical policy manuals, including:
- Eyewash stations/emergency showers
- Pyxis failure due to power outage
- Management plans relating to Security
- Emergency response
- Continuity of operations
- Utility failures
- Hazardous materials
- Water safety and legionella testing
- Fire safety in surgical suites and various other tests
Macro’s deep expertise enabled seamless coordination amongst the many support departments, including Patient Safety, Infection Control, Plant Operations, IT, and Clinical Engineering. As a result of Macro’s work, PSH received The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval. Following this success, and because of PSH’s high level of satisfaction for Macro’s deep collaboration, unique expertise, and detailed work, Macro was awarded all of PSH’s FY 2020 capital improvements projects.
PSH’s FY 2020 capital improvements included, but were not limited to: Cardiology Suite renovations; Radiology Suite renovations; Pharmacy Lab upgrades; and Medical Office Building fit-outs. Macro guided PSH through various feasibility study efforts, identifying opportunities as well as implementing effective risk management tools to prevent potential exposure. Macro continuously adds value to PSH by establishing design standards and developing PMO best practices. Resultantly, Macro is considered to be amongst PSH’s trusted advisors.
